FIERI Boston's Food Page
Cooking with Pino I
On
June 4, 2005, Chef Pino Irano of Piccolo
Nido Restaurant in Boston's North End gave members and friends
of FIERI Boston a lesson in Italian cooking. Chef Pino showed us
how to make the following dishes:

Appetizer: Roasted Peppers

Pasta
Course: Spaghetti with Amatriciana Sauce
(made with onions and pancetta, or Italian bacon)

Main
Course: Veal Valdostana
(with prosciutto and Fontini cheese)
After
receiving our instructions, we split up into two teams (women vs.
men). Each team had to make one of the dishes exactly as Chef Pino
had taught us, as well as the roasted pepper appetizer. The women's
team cooked up the spaghetti dish and the men's dish cooked up the
veal dish. What happened? The pictures below tell the story.

Everyone present had a great time. FIERI Boston will try to have
another cooking lesson like this in Fall 2005. Be sure to check
our calendar page for
